Slab Surfacing

Surfacing and planning services.

We have the equipment to flatten all different wood products. We can process everything from large slabs to dimensional lumber. You can bring your wood to us and we can processes to your specifications.

Large slab surfacing

Our machine is specifically built just for flattening large slabs. It has a helical planner head and a drum sander built into one machine. This allows us to plan and sand your slabs. This will do solid wood and epoxy river tables with no problems. We can process slabs up to 74" wide and 20' long.

Planning

From rough cut and twisted to flat and smooth. Our machine will flatten the roughest of slabs flat and ready to use

Sanding

After planning the wood flat we then use the drum sander. This makes it very easy to do your final sanding.

Our machine can edge plan long slabs perfectly straight. Perfect for edge joining book matched slabs

FAQ

Cost for service

Our cost for surfacing is $100 per hour with a one our minimum charge. Most 8' tables we can surface both sides in one hour.

Lead times

We typically can process a single slab at the time you drop it off. If you need bulk amount slabs done it's typically 1-2 lead time.

Does the wood need to be kiln dried?

Not necessarily but highly recommended. The wood must be bellow 12% moisture content for the planner to cut properly. If you need kiln drying we do offer that service.

lumber planning

We can process lumber up to 24" wide. Our machine removes saw marks and cups out of lumber.

surfaces

We make your rough cut lumber ready to use. Our planer runs a helical cutter head make a smooth finish.

Edge joining

We can edge join lumber. This makes a perfectly straight and square edge. This is needed to glue boards together

Epoxy

We can plan small epoxy boards. We can go as thin as 1/2". Our machine cuts so smooth with no tear out.
