I am very happy woth the rustic lumber oil. This is probably my 10th can. I use it on everything!

However, one customer found it expensive and saw no appreciable difference on elm wood, questioning the value for money.
Have used on caro walnut, american sycamore, cherry, birdseye maple, ash, white oak and african mahogany. The hydrophobic protection is great, it does add a subtle and silky sheen to most wood species but really added something special to walnut and maple. The depth of color, clarity and sheen really stood out on those woods compared to others. Will definitely keep using on furniture, it’s such a great system alongside hard wax oil finishes. Very happy

Long time woodworker here.. have tried many ceramics from the "big" players.. Cam at Blacktail, Black Forrest, etc. and can say with confidence this is the best one yet. It goes on and wipes off with ease, and no overlapping streaks. The added water resistance is amazing, and clients love the silky feel it gives finished pieces; especially if you pair it with the Rustic Lumber furniture oil (which is also my go to finishing oil.) Ignore the review from Dale B... he obviously wasn't using it properly. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Extremely expensive! Three end tables and is gone. The finish showed no appreciable difference with or without the coating. Do not know what it did for the finish or the wood (English brown on elm). Just cannot justify a repurchase at all.
Very disappointed. Literally bought it on the cost. Something that expensive must be good. Wrong!
Hello. That's unfortunate you didn't like the product. As you might not find the value in the cost of ceramic coats, I do feel the rating you have oun product isn't quite fair on the quality aspect. Our product is intended to make a finish more hydrophoic, it is not intended to make the finish more glossy or add an measurable coating on the surface. We have done numerous test through the months of our you to see great moisture repentance. Price wise, per ounce were one of the least expensive products on the market especially since we don't require two different products with two coats required. All ceramic coatings are expensive and some don't see the value in it, but that doesn't lower the credibility of our product. If you would have reached out to us to discuss opinions we would have been more than happy to have discussed what you were trying to improve on during your application of hydrocoat.
I see that the general advice is to not buff it off. However, can you buff it off if you wanted to? Can you apply a second coat? How long is the cure time between coats/before furniture can be used?
Yes you can buff it off and can apply a second coat several hours after it dries
What should be used to clean a table top with hydro coat and how long can you expect the hydro coat to repel water befor needing another application?
you can clean with any universal furniture cleaner. hydrocoat will last 1-3 years on the surface depending on use
