Slab Finishing Services
Have you slab built into a finished product by our skilled craftsmen. Following is the steps we take to build each slab project.
1. Surface plane the slabs to assure they're perfectlly flat.
2. Remove and bark and debris from all of the edges and micro cracks.
3. Stabilize all of the cracks and voids. We use several different methods and products, but mostly use epoxy products. All the voids, cracks and deteriorated wood will be completely stabilzed to assure a solid slab.
4. Final sand all of the sides of the wood up to 180-320 grit. Depending on the species and what finish being used will determind how high we sand up to.
5. Finish application. We use two different finishes. We apply two coats of our Rustic Lumber Furniture oil. After it cures we then apply ceramic coating. Our other finish option is spraying three coats of urethane finish.
6. Mount the base. We install the base with threaded inserts. This allows easy removal of the base from the slab.
The guys are always awesome!!! Excellent customer service and of course the lumber they have is incredible. This slab is going to be a giant conference table out in Chicago. Definitely will be a show stopper!
I have been intrigued for some time about a different 2C product but just couldn't bring myself to pay the price. So glad I found your product. It hardens very well and the finish is fantastic. A little goes a LONG, long way.
I have used this on some walnut and I am very impressed. It applies just as easily as another single coat product that starts with R and ends with monocoat. The product hardens really well over night. I am super happy with the performance. It is all also way less expensive than R monocoat. I urge you to try it. I doubt you will go back to paying more than twice as much for a very similar product.
We wanted a nice table for our conference room so we worked with Zach at Rustic Lumber. He created the perfect piece, which became a labor of love, but the table is amazing and is a statement piece that we will enjoy for years to come!
I was excited to be able to look through so many choices of exotic woods. Purchased Monkey Pod, Teak, Jacoba and Maple. I've made some beautiful lazy susans with the monkey pod and maple so far.
Yet another absolutely gorgeous slab from rustic lumber store. The Labor Day sale was absolutely amazing. Zach is always helpful in finding the perfect slab for your projects. Could not recommend the rustic lumber store enough.
